The Knife Juggler
At over six feet tall and seven feet wide, The Knife Juggler is among the most ambitious works in Speck Mellencamp's catalogue. The painting draws viewers into a scene of precarious performance, rendered with the bold figurative storytelling that defines his practice.
This work was featured in BLOODLINE: The Art of John Mellencamp & Speck Mellencamp at the Butler Institute of American Art (2023), where it hung alongside works by his father. It represents a defining moment in Speck's evolution as a painter — monumental in both scale and ambition.
